Chinese Canadians are most loyal to their mother language compared to other 
ethnic groups in Canada. According to Census 1996, 68% of all Chinese in 
Canada speak their own language at home. In comparison, for the Italians, 
another large ethnic group in Canada, only 21 per cent of these people speak 
their own language at home.
